pakalolo
I have wooden boat building experienence and am thinking of tackling a SOF. I'll build my girlfriend's first and then mabe pick another model. The Vardo seems to be recommended quite a bit. I'm interested in something that can carry some weight and that has hatches. Do the Vardo plans come with hatch diagrams and whatnot? I didn't see any of the other models mention that they had hatches. There is no surf on the coast here. I'm interested in a designed that is good for the ocean and that I can take in a river and that has some hatches. Am I asking for too much? I honestly don't know. What models can you all recommend? Thanks
Kudzu
None of the plans include hatches, it's just something you add if you want. There really pretty straight forward to install. There is a link that shows the highlights of installing them. They really are simple to add. http://www.kudzucraft.com/articles/hatches/ I won't recommend any of my boats for the Ocean because I don't live on the ocean or have any experience in it. So I just don't know how they would do. They may be great or just adequate or even miserable. I just don't know.
