Good afternoon or is it evening their? I finally had a chance to try Kayaking yesterday. 20mph steady wind with some higher gusts. Paddled about 12 miles total in 12"-18" whitecaps
on a local large lake. The wind was always in my face so paddling was a lot of work. Managed to fall into the lake at the end of the day (40 F +-) water, wow was that cold. I'm a 62 year old total newbie. The borrowed boat is an Eddyline Zephyr. What a great time. If you check your orders you will find I pulled the trigger and purchased the plans for a Vardo. I feel like a kid in a candy store. Smiley Smiley Looking forward to being part of the Kayaking community. Thank You. Beachcraft Mike B.

Just sat down and saw your order as well as the notice about your post. I may be a bit biased but I think you will really like the VARDO. It's one of those projects that has impressed and surprised me too. I just reskinned mine with the 12 oz nylon and got it back on the water. I made a couple of changes to the frame while I had the skin off. I raised the seat to sit a little higher because I pinched the skin between a rock and the floor.
After paddling it a while I decided to lower it to somewhere in between what it was and what I have in my boat. I was very comfortable with the higher seat but I know lowering it would make it feel a little more stable and still keep the skin from getting pinched. And one of the big goals was a very stable feeling boat.
David and I drove up and joined the Chattanooga Club on one of their paddles and he snapped a couple of photos.

Here are some photos from a recent fishing trip on the Paint Rock. I took the VARDO this time. These are some photos Steve and Coy took.
