Hirilonde
I am planning to use 2nd hand windsurfing mast tips for the top sections. I can get good ones for $50 each. They vary in carbon content from high carbon (stiff) to lower carbon (more flex). I imaging having a bit more flex is better? (any opinions). When the top of the mast bends it dumps wind. This reduces healing force, but also creates a less efficient sail shape. I would choose a stiff section and dump wind myself (sheet out), or reef as necessary. Like lots of boat related variables and considerations, its all a compromise, and you have to choose your own.
