Designer
I have already developed out the shape of the planks. I am planning to offer the planks cut to shape with the scarfs cut as well as the other parts of the boat. For those that want to build the boat from scratch I will supply the full size shapes of the planks, transom and other parts. I want to build one first to make sure that there are no surprises. Mr_Krabs
So, with Tom's comment about waiting on the router, and this little hint, does that mean you will soon be offering CNC precut full kits of lapwing and other designs?
Designer
I did not think that it was a little hint. I have ordered a 3 axis CNC machine with a 5' x 10' bed so that I can cut out boats. I will probably start with the Lapwing and work through my line of boats as time and learning curve permits.
aufwind
I am very interested in this design (have CS17 plans but a little too big a boat for me right now, Spindrift 12 a little too small, CS15 under consideration). May have missed this in the previous text, but in addition to the normal side seating, will the Lapwing have a seated hiking area (as the CS15/17 do)? I much prefer sitting out on the side rather than inside on a smaller boat. Please keep the design & build status reports coming!
Tom Lathrop
Lapwing will have side decks for comfort while hiking but also for dryness in rougher water.
aufwind
Lapwing will have side decks for comfort while hiking but also for dryness in rougher water. That's good news, thank you for the information.
