Jacob
Would diatomateous earth work for an epoxy filler?
Charlie Jones
Beats me. I've seen people use whole wheat flour and agricultural lime. Both work well by the way. The REAL answer would be to find the Gougeon Bros web site ( WEST sys) get the number for the tech support area and call 'em up. They are really good about answering questions
Barry Pyeatt
Two of my former layup guys had used it on one big job they did and it worked OK, not great, but OK. Seems that they had several bags of it just laying around. Since it is mostly calcium it really shouldn't be any problem to use. It wasn't as hard to sand out and work with as silica as a filler. But they prefered using other materials such as talc and wood flour, which is easy to sand out and still thickens well. Where they needed to really get a nicely faired in area they used nothing but talc and microballons. But for fillets and filling larger areas and with some heavier glasswork it was fine.
