Guest Frank Hagan, Weekender, O
Anyone have experience with Finland Birch marine ply? Its been recommended as available here by someone at the boatyard, with an importer about 90 miles away from where I am. It is five ply for the 6mm, and uses roscinal (sp?) glue and is rated for marine use. It is said to have beautiful faces, but they warned me to make sure its the Finland and not Russian ply. fshagan@ev1.net
Guest Paul J [Aberdeen Wa]
Yeah stay away from the Russian plywoods they are very poorly made. If the Finn plywood is the same as I got up here I have done boil/freeze tests on it and it is indeed suitable for boat plywood. It does have a very nice finish on it and would be very nice stained and varnished. It's 5 ply and I have found no voids.
