Bought me one over the winter--a Sevylor K79--once I'd figured out that there are a few places that a cs20 just can't go, and there just isn't any place on a 20ft boat for even a folding dingy. I figure to anchor the boat when the river is just too narrow/shallow and take to the kayak to get the rest of the way up interesting rivers and streams. Haven't tried it yet.

Let me know how the inflatable kayak works. My wife wants to get a couple that can double with dinghy duty. For paddling around, I'd rather build a light weight stitch and glue design, but then all of those are too big to use as a dinghy for a small sailboat.

Frank,
I just saw this and I don't remember having seen it before...

I took a quick look over the beginnings of this thread and didn't see it mentioned (but maybe I missed it).

Ken, that's a great design! I don' think it was even around when I started looking, but it appears to be exactly what I was looking for.

Woo Hoo! What do I win?
I haven't taken a good look at the design (yet) but I like the mention that it folds flat. Maybe I could modify the design to be used as floorboards for my CS17 - Floorboards that can be raised to seat-level to form a bunk. Hmm... Dinghy, floorboards, bunk, I like it.

Make sure you post pics of your progress...

There is a neat little folding dingy called Oragami on Duckworks.

Yeah, the Origami is the one Ken_Potts found for me. It really fits the bill ... the others I was looking at were either too long or didn't get small enough. I'm thinking I'll stow the thing under a quarterberth, and it looks like the Origami would work.

Ken, we salute your search ability! :salute: Mainly because we're cheap and haven't come up with prizes yet!

Thanks Frank - I don't think I've ever been saluted by a little yellow thing before

Keep us updated on the build and be sure to let Adla know if you need any sewing on the hull - She does pretty work. I'd offer but I've been known to wear home-sewn clothes in the past and it seems like everybody sits a little farther away from me when I do...

Having worn my share of home sewn clothes ... literally from flour bags ... I'll take a pass on wearing any more of them!

I will say, though, that my parents did the best with what they had ... my wife still thinks the adorable shirt I had in one of the early pictures is just "too cute", as she puts it. I haven't told her it was one of the flour sack shirts. They did have some nice looking flour sacks back then!

WOW Sage, you have really been digging and reading the older postings. Yours is the first reply since June 2004.

I could have used that Deckster on my old Laguna Balboa, but opted to tow a dinghy instead.  These are funny looking but I would enjoy playing with them.
Thanks :)

I just watched all the video clips. That was fun, but the water was like glass, mostly. I wonder how these boats will do in a chop and/or stiff winds?

Haha, too true. I should probably have looked at the post date. I really like the idea of those folding dinghies.

I had wanted one for my production sailboat, and I still think they are a good idea!

Frank ~ Did you ever build the Origami? I am curious about that one and also the Stasha.
