Bobthebuilder
I'm building a skin on bamboo frame kayak. She's fully skinned and ready to paint; but I have a dilemma. There are pull holes - particularly at the tips of the stems. Probably I pulled the fabric too tight prior to ironing. [On the plus side there are relatively few wrinkles!! ] I have read where lexel caulk can be used to fill pull holes. So now I am thinking of sequence of events. One Kudzu post said lexel before you paint. But another Kudzu post said the thinned first coat of paint will assure a consistent look to the interior of the kayak. So I am thinking of lexel between first and second coats of paint. Is that a good idea? Or is lexel prior to painting necessary to assure adhesion of caulk to the fabric? Thanks -- Bob
Kudzu
Either or a combination of both will work. In the class we have to deal with this and I fill have them fill the holes be for painting. After a coat of paint we usually find at least a couple more the paint will not fill so we add a little more before the seconomy coat. So either will work.
