jbo_c
What are the two short dimensions of the stringers? Are they 3/4"x1"? Trying to figure out what lumber will be the most efficient use of wood. Will 1bys be the best place to start? Thanks. Jbo
Hirilonde
If you can get dressed 5/4x and 2x (1" thick and 1 ½" thick) it is ideal. I buy material sold as exterior decking and trim stock for high end houses. The "gunwale" stringers are 1 ½ x 5/8 and the rest are 1 x 5/8. If not, find what you can get and do the best you can with it.
toddn.robinson
I had great results buying 1x 10 x 12 feet, clear cedar planks and having it dressed to 5/8. Then I ripped it to width. Came out really sweet.
