  1. A couple of years ago I was building an S-10 but never finished it. I have some never used stuff left that is headed to the dump in a few days that you can have for free. There are the bottom 2 finished sections of the mast, finished boom with all fittings installed, all of the bronze fittings (I think), and one full sheet of Okoume plywood. I will run this for one week and then take a trip to the dump. Just got a call from someone who lives in the next town. He'll be by in the next couple of days to pick up all the stuff. 2. If anyone is interested, I have some leftover parts and fittings for an S-10 project that was never finished. I have the lower 2/3's of the mast, complete boom, with all hardware, tiller, collapsable oars, bronze oarlocks, etc. Make an offer. I'm in Tavares, FL. Russ Hauser
  3. I have an uncompleted S-10 for sale. It is at the "3D" stage with the transome and bow bulkhead epoxied in place. Some of the seams are filleted. The bottom two sections of the mast are finished, and fitted together. the mast step fitting is finished and in place at the base of the mast. the boom is finished and has all its fittings in place. Some other parts are started such as the tiller and dagger board. All 6mm Okume needed to finish the boat is on hand. Too many irons in the fire, and I need to open up garage space. No reasonable offer will be refused. Pick up on site, or I might deliver if not too far. I placed this ad on "Messing About" a year ago. The project is still in the garage and I MUST get it out soon. 4. I have an S-10 at the 3D stage with some of the fillets and taping started. The bottom two sections of the mast are completed and painted. The boom is ready to be fitted to the mast and has all its fittings mounted. The dagger board is glued up and shaping has begun. Split oars and bronze oar locks are included. Other boat stuff is also included. We are moving and the boat must "go." The boat is located in central Florida. No reasonable offer will be refused.

  6. Here's nore on the plane on the roof. http://wirednewyork.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5578 And again: http://www.flickr.com/photos/phrenologist/31351263#. I think it's pretty neat. Wonder what it cost. Russ
  7. Following the instructions in Tom's original post, I only get info for the Southern Skimmer. I know there are many other boats in the EC. Are they not carrying a GPS? Russ
  8. Getting it unfolded without the glassed bottom and side pieces cracking apart is sweet. Took 3 tries before I got it right, thanks to stiff temporary bracing screwed across the joints. My wife was my helper. I had tried to explain how the flat sheets of odd shaped plywood were going to Morph into a boat, but she wasn't getting it. You should have seen her face when it happened. I believe most folks would have to see it happen with their own eyes before they'd believe it. Russ
  9. Finally, after months of screwing around, I finally have the boat at the 3D stage. It's all wired together, and I'll start epoxying as soon as I make a forward bulkhead that fits. Russ[attachment=1][attachment=2]
  10. Hey Bob; The link doesn't work for me in Windows XP. Russ
  11. Captain Scarlett, I recently completed scarffing my 6mm for the S-10. I used the method recommended by Hirionde, it came out okay, but if I were to do it again, I would make a fixture for my Skill Saw like that in the link. http://tinyurl.com/3lk8zb Russ
  12. Thanks Graham: I think I'll make up a batch of them for building my boat, and loan them out to other builders who can use them after mine is done. Russ
  13. Does anyone have plans for making the long reach clamps I've seen on various forum sites showing the building of Spindrifts and Core Sounds? Looks like they would be indispensable when glueing the seat stringers to the hull sides. Russ
  14. Mark: Great job on both the boat and your cradle and dolly. Do you have any sketches or more detailed photos of the cradle and dolly? I had been wondering how to best get my S-10 in the truck without banging it up, and like your ideas. Russ Hauser Tavares, FL
  15. Someone on this forum offered an unused set of CS 17 plans a while back, and I replied "Send them to me." Last week he sent me an email asking if I still wanted them. My computer ate the message before I was able to answer. I do still want the plans, and would the person please contact me again. Russ Hauser
  16. By the way Markja, I like the looks of your boat, and think I'll finish my S-10 the same as yours. Russ
  17. I've never used Life caulk, but there should be something shown on the container that should tell you what the cure time is. When did you seal the bailer? Russ
  18. Thanks Jim: I'm in central FL, too far from you. Russ

  20. This is another wind related story. Living in central Florida, you soon learn to expect perhaps more than your share of violent storms. I had gone to Publix for some groceries, leaving our Son who was visiting from Tampa's McDill AFB. I was gone less than 15 minutes, and upon leaving Publix, I noticed the sky was unusually dark and filled with angry looking clouds. Approching the house I noticed the window in the office in front of the house appeared to be open. My son met me at the door, having just been awakened from a nap and not really awake yet, when I noticed the great room behind him was a mess. Going into the office to close the window, I assumed he for some reason had left open, I noticed I was walking on broken glass A Micro Burst or Straight-Line-Winds had struck the front of our house, blowing out the office window that had been inproperly sealed in its frame. The window had blown out intact until it struck the office chair at the computer desk and the shattered glass fell in the office and out into the great room where some of it was imbedded in the sofa. everything in the office was soaked and everything wet had tufts of pink insullation stuck on it. Across the street was a two story home, and the wind had ripped off the soffit covers from one side of the eaves and sucked insullation out of its attic. It was a good thing our Son wasn't sitting in the office chair when the wind came thru. Insurance covered replacement of the window, blinds and ruined computer. everything else was dried out and saved. Russ
  21. And what post would that be? Can you supply a link? Russ
  22. Thanks Graham, I thimk I have it now. Russ
  23. I fabricated the boom during the last couple of days and fitted the gooseneck. Does anyone have photos of the assembly of the parts that fit on the boom and mast? This should be a simple thing but I'm not sure I can picture how it's suposed to work. I assume the fittings are supposed to allow the boom to move side to side across the boat, and there should be some flexibility in the up and down direction as well. The way it seems to want to go together, allows for no up and down movement, and very restricted movement side to side. Russ
