  1. Wow the first boat, a F25 tri, is in around 124 hours. A very impressive run of five 140 mile days.
  2. This is a very interesting topic. It seems evident that it would be much easier to pull off a good solution if you were starting with a CS 20 and the added length and beam. I tend to like the more traditional looks of this type of cabin with side decks, if you are ok giving up interior space and volume of the Mk 3's. If your were to start a new build, are the plans for a CS 20.2 actually availabe?
  3. Very nice work. Its interesting that you chose to add the fore deck over the bow, do you have any photos inside the cabin?
  4. Did anyone else notice that the foot of the mizzen on the red boat was fluttering on starboard tacks but not on port tacks. Any ideas on trimming to correct that?
  5. I think you may be over-thinking the structural issue, the strength is more dependent on the depth and thickness of the wood. Drill the holes perpendicular at 90 degrees or you will not have a good seat for the backing plate and have a much harder time sealing the joint. The suggestion to over drill and fill with epoxy is right on the money. I would suggest using a u-bolt with a backing plate on each side. http://www.westmarine.com/buy/suncor--bow-stern-eyes--P002_060_008_504
  6. You could use the bulkhead that came with the kit as a templet for a new one without the cutout. It will give you the bottom and sides then just strike a horizontal line at the same hight as the seat tops.
  7. This looks like a very nice design, any progress updates that you could share?
  8. I think Tom was refering to Grahams waiting for daylight to cross Florida Bay, not the broken spar. That was what cost the CS 17 this years race. Judging by the photos from the start the CS 17 may have also had a bow sprit and ability to fly a spinnaker so both boats had far larger sail plans the the stock CS17 & 20's. It will be interesting to see any upcoming reports from the crews to see how much of the time they were reefed vs. flying max sail with an a-kite or staysail. Overall it seems like the conditions were very nice this year and clearly favored the sail boats over the paddle boats.
  9. This is a fantastic looking first build of this new variation. I would love to see a shot through the companionway to see the inside the cabin to get a sense of the layout and space available.
  10. I think the CLC Annapolis wherry would fit the bill. This is a really beautiful boat too. http://www.clcboats.com/shop/boats/rowboats/wherry_rc/annapolis-wherry-row-boat-kit.html
  11. Claims backed up by actual independent testing are much more reliable and informative. These tests may not illustrate how the design reacts in a seaway or high wind conditions, but it is pretty interesting to see how the USCG conducts their test. http://www.clcboats.com/life-of-boats-blog/peeler-power-skiff-coast-guard-testing.html
